Goluza’s Record Speaks For Itself – Even Prior To this Tournament
Croatia losing their first two matches against Czech Republic and Serbia in the friendly tournament played in Serbia this weekend has made some things crystal clear when it comes to our beloved national handball team…We have several problems but only ONE huge, the huge one spells GOLUZA!
After the terrible performance in last year’s W.C (played in Sweden), Goluza was rescued by “that being his first tournament” and that people couldn’t demand medals…Fact still remains, we are now loosing against countries that haven’t been near a handball medal for “as long as I can remember”!
Croatia is a small country housing a lot of wonderful athletes, so many it at times have spoiled us “demanding results” rather than us being grateful for the success we actually achieve! This goes for a number of sports …But Handball for sure aren’t one of them, few would argue against us having among the best players in the world and we really have the right to demand results!
I’d like to remember all that handball-planet.org had Croatia as the big favorites for winning the gold in the last W.C….that should be proof enough that we have good enough players!
Personally I’m a big fan of holding on to coaches’ achieving good results in the past and I really try to “not judge them” after one or two failure’s … Goluza doesn’t belong to this category, I basically wanted to get rid of him as soon as he stepped in!
But is Goluza really to blame? Both yes and no, but mostly no! Goluza is probably the worst handball coach in Croatian history but still I can’t entirely blame him…I blame the ones who offered him the job…to be clear, I blame Gubac!
Goluza have never ever trained a handball team prior to our beloved national team, NOT A SINGLE ONE!!!
Sure, he was Cervar’s assistant (most likely with the honorable job of screaming) But it was Cervar who was driving and Goluza was in the backseat “screaming”. At least I expect, the one leading some of this planets best handball players to have a solid AND successful background as a coach.
If Croatian sport media were even near their English counterpart (thank God they aren’t) but if they were…there would be huge headlines demanding both Goluza and especially Gubac getting fired . I’d really like to hear, Gubac defending Goluza and at the same time making it clear, what part in Goluza’s background as a handball coach made him not only consider but actually choose Goluza as Croatia’s head coach?
E.C is just around the corner (starting in Jan -2012) the tournament is as you all know also played in Serbia…Usually my hopes are quite high when Croatia is to play a big tournament but Gubac and Goluza has succeeded in lowering them to a bare minimum.
